Pentium IV or equivalent machine, 2.66GHz or better, is preferred. Also preferred is at least 512MB RAM, high speed Front Side bus and memory (PC133 or DDR RAM), and UDMA 133 or better hard drive and controller. The bigger and faster the machine, the better the program runs. A typical entry level workstation machine these days would be a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP running about 2.66GHz or better with 512MB DDR SDRAM. Such machines are available today starting around $600. The new Duo-Core Intel based machines are really good as are the newer AMD Athlon64 based machines, and one of those may be obtained with 1GB of high speed DDR2 SDRAM, a large SATA hard drive, and all the other goodies you need, even including a 19"LCD monitor, for around $1,000.
---Also recommended is a monitor of at least 17" size to display the 1024x768 resolution TCE is designed for. An analog monitor of this size is typically included in the computer systems mentioned above, and a 19" LCD flat screen can be added for just a couple of hundred dollars more.
---TCE runs very well on the new Apple Mac Mini and their other machines with the Intel Core-Duo chip running the latest OS. A product named "Parallels" must be installed to a partition to run Windows XP as spec'd out above. At least 1GB of RAM is recommended to be able to run both the Mac OS and Windows simultaneously, and 2GB is better. Some really good monitors are available from Apple for their machines as well.

XP Pro SP2 is the preferred operating system, although Windows 2000 Professional will work if it is SP4 or better with all the latest updates installed. No other operating system will work. XP Home works on a home computer and/or portable laptop in standalone mode, but should not be used in an office system. Microsoft doesn't call it "Home" Edition for nothing. If used in an office, it must be used only as a workstation and never as a server, and you must disable practically all security in your system - not a good idea at all. Windows98, ME, NT or earlier versions are not supported. MS Windows Server 2003 or Small Business Server (SBS) is recommended for networking involving more than 10 workstations.

We supply Microsoft's SQL Server 2005 Express with TCE, and this is adequate for most systems where imaging and scanning will not be used significantly. Full Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is necessary on larger installations and in offices where digital imaging is heavily used resulting in a database that may exceed 4GB. Contact us for configuration requirements. Regardless of whether you are using the Express or full version of MS SQL Server 2005, your server must be fully patched with ALL the latest updates from Microsoft. If it is not, SQL will not install and run.
---At this time, we do not recommend VISTA. With the final release product of VISTA and the latest updated version of SQL 2005, TCE can run. However, the configuration of VISTA and SQL is difficult, and we can not automate an installation at this time. An extremely competent IT person, very familiar with VISTA and SQL both, will be necessary to get such a system running properly. We recommend that you wait until we know more about VISTA ourselves before trying to use it in your office with The Complete Exam.
---The Complete Exam is perfectly compatible with the new Internet Explorer 7 and the new Windows OneCare security product, although OneCare can not be set up to allow SQL to serve a network of computers by a casual computer user. Again, it takes real Windows networking competency in a good IT person to set up properly.

Video card or internal chipset with current drivers and at least 64MB video RAM preferred, running in 1024x768 True Color mode (or higher). 800x600 resolution or lower is not recommended and will prevent some screens from functioning correctly.

No special software is required other than above to run the program. Most word processing, spreadsheet, or other presentation software is compatible with our program and may be used with it to store patient documents and/or presentations directly in the encrypted patient record

For writing letters, custom reports, etc., we recommend Microsoft Word or PowerPoint for embedding graphics from our program in your documents.
